When I brought these treats to a friend’s house, the husband said “Colleen, don’t ask for this recipe!” Why you might ask? It’s because these little treats are so good and addictive and he was trying not to have food he liked around the house.
- 1 box graham wafers
- 1 1/2 cups lightly toasted flaked almonds
- 1 cup butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Line the bottom of a 9″ x 13.5″ greased pan with graham wafers. Lightly toast the almond flakes in the oven or frying pan. Sprinkle the top of the graham wafers with the sliced almonds.
Melt the butter and sugar together in a saucepan and bring to a boil for three minutes. Pour the hot mixture over the nuts and put in the oven for 8 minutes. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on the top. Let them sit for a minute and then spread with a fork. Allow the bars to become warm and then cut into squares before they cool off too much. Allow to cool down before serving.
